Mint Hill, NC Real Estate Agent and Home Stager: May 2011

Happy Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day, Memorial Day became an official holiday in 1868 to honor those who gave their life serving our great country.

Some great facts about Memorial Day:

  • On the Thursday before Memorial Day 1,200 US Soldiers of the 3rd US Infantry place small American Flags at each of the over 260,000 grave sites in Arlington National Cemetery.
  • In 1951 the Boy Scouts of St. Louis starting placing flags on over 150,000 graves at  Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, and they still do it today.
  • In 2004 Washington D.C. held its first Memorial Day parade in over 60 years.

American Flag

I hope everyone enjoyed their Memorial Day and took time to honor those who made the highest sacrifice to provide us with our freedom and the best place on earth to call home.
