Whether you like fresh picked fruits and vegetables, free range eggs and meats, organic herbs, baked goods, fresh cut flowers or even a local craft or two  the Matthews , NC Farmer's Market has something for just about everyone. This past Saturday there was a cooking demonstration by Chef Joseph Bonaparte featuring grilled pizza, yum.  They made a variety of pizza's on the grill with fresh vegetables, meats even one with goat cheese.  I love to cook on the grill and I learned something new: grilled pizza.

Matthews, NC Farmer's Market

The Matthews, NC Farmer's Market is open year round on North Trade Street in Historic Downtown Matthews, NC the regular season Saturday market is 7:15 am till noon through November, the Wednesday market is 10:00am till noon from May 25 through July and the Winter market is 8-10 am Saturdays, December through March.  Remember to bring cash and your shopping list, every week I learn about a new vegetable or herb that I've never heard of before. There are always recommendations on how to cook with these various foods both at the market and on their website. I also learned from the Dancing Bees Honey Farm that eating a teaspoon of local honey per day will help you build an immunity to local allergies, good to know.   The selection of products does change throughout the season but everything is fresh, fresh, fresh!
